Halibut regulations just came out. No annual limit which is like last year.

For Area 3A: Two-fish bag limit with one fish of any size and a second fish less than or equal to 32 inches, Wednesdays closed to retention of halibut, one trip per vessel and one trip per CHP per day (no annual limit).

Make sure everyone knows that no yelloweye made be kept, and that the limit on ling cod for nonresidents is one per year with a slot limit. There are also severe restrictions on keeping halibut. Not a problem as long as people are catch and release...

Kil, A week before my trip last year the ban of fishing for halibut on Wednesday was lifted due to the fact of very few anglers due to Covid and halibut take was low. In Sitka last year in June, chinook limits for non resident was one per day, 3 per year. In July it was raised to 2 per day, 6 per year. It was raised again to 3 per day, 9 per year. Fish stock was strong due to very few anglers because of Covid. Things may change again this year after start of season. 🤞 bosco

Even existing regulations, I don't see any problem we can bring minimum two boxes of filleted fish per person. :)

Ken, this is your video. :)

i am thinking about going to Icy BAY Lodge for coho in early Sept.
Coho fishing there is phenomenal. 50 plus catches a day is possible using fly rods or lures.
if anyone wants to join my trip, let me know.

it is 4 a day in the fresh water and 6/day in the salt.
We usually fish in the bay on the first week of Sept. That means 6 per day and they are fresh

    .
The normal rate is $5,500. If you come with me, you get discount.
On my last trip, they kept only male and I insisted to keep female to get egg. :)

I hope we can go on June 27 - July 3 trip.
Once we can go offshore, it is game on.
You can catch 20 - 40 big ling cod on a light jigs as well as yelloweye rockfish. They use mechanism to release rockfish safely.View attachment 1246724View attachment 1246725
Since I caught 270 lb halibut on a jig, I haven't caught bigger than 150 lb. But big halibut are there.

One angler saved two spot for Icy Bay Lodge on July 3 - 10 trip. But we couldn't contact him. No good. We have to find other anglers to fill two spot. If anyone who is interested in the trip, contact me.
