is it paint or decal? decal, heat gun and 3m adhesive remover. then compound buff and polish.

if paint, sandpaper, sand it off, get down to gel coat, resand from 400-600-1000, 1500, compound, polish

not easy, takes time for that amount of sexy stripes.

if decal is too old and flaking, you can also sand it off... or i;ve used a yellow decal removing wheel before, but you would need a ton of it.

That's what I'm afraid of... The decal stripes are extremely old and it's completely baked! Maybe I should just paint them black instead of different shades of brown!!!!

Wet sand, compound, polish, wax. Going to have to do all but the first to the whole boat if you want it all to look the same.

It'll probably take 2 full days to do it but sand at a lower grit like 320. It'll come right off and then u can work up from there. It's not hard, just takes time and a good orbital sander.

I just removed some 26yo decals. I used a razor and a bit of heat. The decals come off easy. Removing the residue is a pita.

Then you are going to have a gelcoat stripe which may irritate you more.

Go to a auto finish paint store and get a 3M wheel for your drill motor. It is like a big round erasure for your drill.Just go slow and it will remove the decals. The gelcoat will need to be buffed and polished after.

If you go the eraser amount you will need a ton of it. With the eraser you would still want to do a sanding to blend the sections. Best is to sand it off then compound polish.

I just recently did what you did so I tried it all.

At the end for a nice original look with no random lines, sanding will be the quickest and easiest to making it look brand new.

This is what I did, worked great. used 2 wheels on a 24' Striper.
