I mailed my stradic and my curado to shimano, they mailed them back to me and said they were to old. They are about 6-7 yrs old. I have 5 stradics in which the infinite anti reverse is out, and a curado that grinds big time when you turn the handle. At this point, I am so frustrated with them that I will mail them to Malaysia to get them fixed if need be. Does anyone know of a any repair center in the friggin USA that will repair them ? I was given a list by shimano of places to call, and ya, the phone numbers are off and the ones I reached said if shimano can't, neither can we.

Call or email Alan Tani before you send your reels. He doesn't do spinners...

I never have had any problems with Shimano product support. I have sent ancient TLD's with 100% rapid action. My Talica's just wont break, but then again they still sell Talica's. My Stella won't break and my Thunnus frigging still looks and acts like a new reel. Sorry that you have had such a problem. I would be interested in knowing what you find in better equipment. Always best to learn vicariously. I am going to stick with Shimano equipment for a while...............Ap

The car analogy is different because the aftermarket companies purchase the tooling once the manufacturer stops making the parts, or in some cases the aftermarket companies are the suppliers for factory parts.

We have been working to improve the parts availability for all reel models. The problem is Japan may stop offering the parts. We have to purchase several parts to try and maintain a longer time frame. Demand can change at any time, and with anything older more parts are typically needed.

Many times once are notified certain parts will no longer be manufactured we purchased based on past and current demand. This may be 10-12 years worth. As the years go on, demand will increase and the supply is used up. It is a constant challenge and this is something we are trying to improve.

We try to improve the products with each model change to provide the latest available technology. This means parts will be discontinued for older models. We have a large network of service centers around the country that stock parts and typically do not consume them as quickly as we do. We refer customers to this network when there are older reels that we can no longer service due to lack of available parts.
