I'm tired of paying 12.00 bucks to park and use launch ramp in Long beach every weekend? cant they offer a annual Pass at a discounted rate? i have spent around $700.00 this years to use launch ramps. So we all pay 12.00 a day to use Long Beach area- Huntington, Davies and MDR, and nearby launch ramps. These launch ramps are poorly maintained(Long Beach ones), No lights in restroom, pot holes everywhere, wash downs that might or might not work. Then you go down to S.D. and the launches are beautiful and well maintained and also FREE!!! It a bunch of B.S.
IF (notice the IF) i have read things properly. I read that it is a constitutional right to have free access to the beach. So i why do i have to pay to get close enough to launch my boat. Shouldn't this fee be Illegal??? or maybe lower the price to a reasonable rate like 5 bucks (that should be enough to maintain the facilities if that's where our fees go). If this is a illegal fee how could this be handled?? SICK AND TIRED OF CALIFORNIA JUST SUCKING THE FINACIAL BLOOD OUT OF US ALL!!!!!!!

OK rant over........ Does anyone else think this way or am i just out of line???

    Take it Easy

This is one of the reasons I went with Cabrillo, they will launch your boat for free. So if youre already paying for storage I would look into this

Yeah, it's nice not being charged in SD. When I lived in an apt I sure wouldn't have minded throwing quarters in a machine at the ramp to I could have access to water for a rinse down/engine flush. I remember as a kid they had them at MDR ramp. Live in a house now, so not a problem. But before moving into a house, finding a good place to rinse clean was surely an issue.

I agree with the op. In King Harbor, small boat launch used to be $4 all day. Then it was $2 per hour, regular rates. But with validation at RBSF, $2 all day. Well, RBSF stopped validating for non party boat customers. $2 per hour = more than I pay for gas in a day.

Here is a petition I started on one of the kayak boards...I'll be presenting the signatures to the Harbor Commission at their meeting on December 11th at 6:30pm. It would be great if a few anglers showed up in person to present some support on the petition !
The Redondo Harbor Commission meets next Monday evening on Dec. 11th at 6:30pm at the City offices on PCH next to the Library and Police station.
The Harbor Commission meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
at the City Council Chambers, 415 Diamond Street, Redondo Beach, CA 90277
As of this Monday (Dec. 4th) morning we have over 350 signatures....

Please sign this petition if you are interested in getting the City of Redondo to reinstate the flat rate for parking in the Redondo Beach Marina parking lot when utilizing the "Hand Launch" facility...

I agree we are a LITTLE spoiled here in SD... the only bummer is that there is only 1 ramp with "true" wash/flush ability... so for me being that I live in apartments and cant do it there its worth the extra 10 miles I drive to be able to do it... and I would gladly pay (to have use of water) to be able to wash/flush at all the other ramps here in SD... I have never been up north of SD so I do not know how it works there... do you pay to park and get use of the water too or is that separate fee as well??

MDR you pay extra for water.. .25/minute. in Long beach You get free water at the moment until they get off their butts and fix the machines. then we will pay again......i dont mind paying for water, but the ocean access should be free with a low parking fee like 5 bucks a day...

I personally think that Sunset Aquatic in Huntington is one of the nicest ramps to launch from. Clean shitters, Sheriffs sub station, washdown that has always worked for me, and is so far down Edinger that the homeless get winded before they can get their shopping carts there. Davie's has been hit or miss with even getting the entry gate to open, token machine is always in-op, homeless camping on the jetty, and bathrooms that rival the worst dive bar in TJ. Freshwater lake fees are much more expensive, California State-owned lakes are around $18.00, Big Bear $25, Diamond Valley Lake $21 + fishing permits, though they all do offer a discounted annual pass.

Sure, there's an all included pass... Sunset Aquatics Marina, store, launch, and park your boat as many times as you want... For $2500 a year...

I was not talking about south shores... and... it is not "legal" to wash your boat in the RV dump station... however for the few times a year that I launch there I bring two 55 gal plastic drums in my truck and fill them up there and pull off to the side of the ramp and hook up an cyclone pump to the drum and use that water to flush and wash... doing it that way is technically legal... and your not in the dump station area when you are flush/washing

Thanks for sharing Jim. Feel free to make the new thread, and what it's about and I can make it a sticky for a while.

Post up on how many people show up.

It's not my territory, or I would be there.
