I fought this beast for 3 hours on 30lb p-line xx. until it finally lost its spirit and had succumb to the man.
15 feet away on the surface from 2 gaffs and BOOM!.
The largest mako I have ever seen in my life took one bite. One mouthfull and half my easily 150 lb class tuna was gone.
There was another second smaller 300 to 400 lb class mako that was 8-10 foot long that came in immediatly after we dragged the convulsing carcass over the rail and went straight for my outboard like it was a chew toy or something.

The bigger one kept going back and forth under my boat.Huuuge mako!Scary huge,4 feet longer than the beam of my boat.
We put it in gear and relocated to about a mile away to recollect our thoughts on what had just occured.

If I had my choice between a whole tuna and a hum drum off shore report or a great war story that will live thorough the ages. A story that one day with your grand child on your knee you can bedazzle them with the tale of Jaws Junior a monster blood thirsty shark that ate half your trophy BF and chewed on your outboard propeller like it was a pretzel stick, I think I would opt for the exciting tale of the deep blue sea.
    Congrats on an epic adventure.

Better than the guy that fought the fish for 20 hours only to have the hook pull.

I feel your pain! Same thing happened to me on the big YFT tuna bite last April. Hammer head took the fish I estimated at 60# after 60 minutes of wonderful agony!

You still have both the prime shoulder fillets and the belly. Even better story with pics, I'd say that was a WIN!!!!

Ok so who wants to jump in the water now?
