no. For 130lb you need a VISX 20 or Makaira 20. I dont see why your limiting yourself to 2 reels... If you need extreme low gearing get a Makaira, the makairas torque is unmatched. If it was me i would get a visx 16 or makaira 16.I love the atd-12 but need that lower gear. I am Fishing for trains(grouper over 30 pounds) in depths up to 900 ft .....Can a avet hx/hxw handle 130 pound test?
Great advice and great fish. Plz show us a picture if you have time.I fish 100# on my HX Raptor. Last spring I caught a 53# grouper on it while fishing the dropper loop for yellowtail. The reel has plenty of guts for a sizable grouper. And in my opinion, I'd consider thinner line so it won't catch as much current at 900 feet. I doubt you could break 80# spectra on a grouper -- but you might want to splice in 20 feet or so of 130# as abrasion resistance.
