I'm going to Kauai in late November and would like to hunt pig, goat or Axis deer. Has anyone used an outfitter/guide that they would recommend?

Staying in Poipu from Nov 26th thru Dec 3rd

Would be great to find something that comes with a good recommendation

    Thanks!

I'll ask my friends from the Pacific Warriors show (the chill guys from Kauai, not the other crazies) I don't remember him mentioning axis deer, but he definitely talked about white tail. 80% of the island is owned by the Robinson's and is off limits.

Also, bird hunting is big on Kauai and I think i remember the pigs being off limits as they are pigs that came over with the Polynesians, not feral escapees

I'm not from Kauai, but as far as I know there are no Axis deer there. Goat maybe, and pigs, but without dogs, pig hunting would be tough. No whitetail anywhere in the state. Oh, and Lee, you're thinking about Niihau that is privately owned.

I got my license before I left for Maui emailed them my HS and had my license in the mail in a week and a half. One less thing to worry about.

    Have fun!

Hey Lee, learned something new today! Haven't done much hunting since my Rem 700 got stolen, but I still have the urge to go out & kill some innocent critters!

Black tail lottery is already done on Kauai, there are pigs and goats to be hunted. A lot of the guides run dogs cause the forest is so thick and it's the most effective way to get you on game. There are a few who do blind hunting over bait where you can shoot bow or rifle. If your going for goats get prepared for a trek up and down extremely steep terrain. Pigs are a little easier and taste way better (they grow um big on Kauai). PM me if you need a guide recommendation or have any questions.

Lots of locals run dogs and they are super friendly. If you have a couple days before you hunt you might be able to meet some good people.

Wear camo and you will fit right in.

Great place we love it there.
