HLII has taken 500 lbs. of humbolt squid out the ocean!

Tommy Gomes ( yep that Tommy) and company took HLII about 11.8 mile from Mission Bay for a wide open bite. 3 to 4 pole bent at all time. Filled the kill bag and went home at 7:20.

Sliced and diced them all except for 2 that are going to a school to be dissected tomorrow.

Everyone had a great time including Jason ( yep that Jason)!

Dinner was served on the way back and desert was comsumed at the dock.

A big thanks to everyone for killing a bunch of squirts.

Practice catch, kill, release if you don't feel like keeping them to eat. These fuckers are a menace, they eat all the local fish....

Had a great time with Tommy, Lee and the rest of the boys.

We got to the spot dropped & loaded up. Tried to call in a few boats but it died down for a while. Once we were done and on our way back I heard it was just a waiting game and the boats started going wide open.

Got some good pics I'll put up once I get to the office.

How do those taste? Last year I got a bunch, and they tasted salty. I heard that they release some sort of toxin when they die, and need to be cleaned and seperated from the head right away to avoid that. Does anybody know anything bout that?

    Lee,

Was that you on the radio last night it didn't sound like you at all. We were out of there early and thank god all of our stuff was less than 100' feet deep and they didn't come up to the surface under the light while we were cleaning our catch which was unusual. We saw similar marks on the meter just outside the 5 mile 50 fathom curve; they might be in there too. None of ours were over 25-30#. Was it alot better @ 42/28 ?

    Yep that was us.
The squid started at about 150 to 200' and then came up like all good squirts do.
Ours were in the 20 to 35 lb. range, with constant action for an hour and half.
We had to stop because there was no more room in kill bag.

It was a blast as the pictures show.
Tommy was riot as was the rest of the crew!
