How often do you think tuna bite the sinker on a sinker rig?

Would you mind sharing what single hook brand, model and size, and split ring size you use on those snipers?
For hooks on those 150 gram Sanhu snipers I use either an Owner InLine hook, size 5/0 I believe, maybe 7/0, and the black ones are also inline but made by VMC. An inline hook is where the eye of the hook is "inline" with the shank and point of the hook, as opposed to a standard hook where the eye is set 90 degrees to the shank and point of the hook. An inline hook is necessary so that the point of the hook rides vertically over the jig like a scorpions tail.

I also use a Owner 3/0 4X treble hook on the same snipers which have performed well on bluefin to 100lbs.

As far as split rings, the eye of the snipers can be small and tight limiting options. Normally I would use an Owner Ultra split ring in size 7 but that split is to thick to allow free swinging movement within the eye itself causing the ring to bind side to side.

In situations like that I opt for a Nomad split ring which is strong, easy to open, and has a flattened design which is easier to fit into a tight space. Pictured below is Nomad splits in size XXL rated 370lbs but for the snipers I used a size M which is rated 240lbs.

Hope that helps..

100x more thorough and detailed than I was hoping for. Thank you VERY MUCH. I sincerely appreciate the reply. And great added tip on the Nomad split rings. I have a lot of their products, including a rod, bag and lure/jig cases, all are super high quality & design.

Back to the original question..
If the chrome or shiny lead gets bit instead of the bait.
You can always paint the sinker black.
