Ventured out with a buddy to the Horseshoe on Friday 3/19. Beautiful weather in the morning! Slight breeze, little chilly, tons of current, water clarity at about 10-12 feet, water Temps 55-56 all day. Fog rolled in late morning together with the wind. By 1:30 blowing pretty good at 10-14 mph, cold wind.
About 15 total mixed bag of Calicos and Sand Bass with a mack and Ling cod mixed in. All released mostly on plastics with red, and green seeing the most action. The Ling cod was a surprise! Most of the bass were 14-16 inches, several double rigs worked today. Maybe half of all catches. Came inside to fish and get out of the wind, no chance. White caps in the harbor!
Good luck this weekend, tight lines!

Glad you got out. We bagged tomorrow’s trip due to the wind forecast and generally crappy fishing reports from buds.

Afternoon winds will be with us till June or so. To combat them, a large drift sock (at least 60” diameter) will greatly slow down your drift and plan your day so you end up west of the harbor entrance and it will be a downwind ride home. ...unless you get the boat from Pedro...
