Save your energy, I retired March 30 and have been so freakin busy since that going back to work would be a break. Between getting our house ready to go on the market, and looking for a new place in the San Juan’s I haven’t had time for much of anything else. Hookers & blow would pretty much guarantee I’m working for ever or dead. Don’t think the wife would understand. Best of luck and thank you for your service.

No thanks. I'm a hoarder and realish in the atmosphere of my affliction.

30 years as a squid is awesome for you. To love your life so; that you are being forced to retire against your will says a lot. Congratulations. 20 years to the day, 21 years ago was all I could do.

    Again go fish?

If there is something you want to do and are able to do it - go do it now. Don't wait. Don't assume you have all the time in world to do what you want. You never know what nasty surprises life has waiting for you.

I’ll take it a step further, don’t wait until you retire to pursue your passions. The only thing that will change when I retire is my schedule will be much more flexible to do the things I want. Congrats Chad and enjoy!

Enjoy the anticipation of the upcoming openers knowing that you can head to your favorite spot the day before most everyone else, leisurely launch around noon, catch a limit of rockfish and lings that day, clean fish, eat dinner and then drink a beer while you prep all your gear for an early start the next morning. Meanwhile, watch the weary guys who just drove a gazillion miles after a long day answering to the man launch their boats in the darkness.

Congrats and stay away from that Coke the other guys have suggested. It will make you fat!

This may sound dumb and cliche, but make a list of everything you have always wanted to do.....AND DO IT. Check off the easy ones first, then figure out how to do the tough ones..tough usually means $$$, but figure it out.

Then give away all your unused electronics to needy BD members..

Congrats and thanks for your service.....

Keep up relationships with your good friends that have a nice boat to fish tuna out of Westport. Spend time making them super custom top secret lures and specialty baits. Spend extra time servicing the boats rod and reels. Offer to help them with anything they need help with. Discuss dream and plan about fishing trips in Mexico and Virginia and go to a lead melt party to prepare for May hali and ling. The rest will play out as it goes. :D
