Going out this weekend for a 2 day trip, leaving Friday, I've been trying to find a forcast of weather conditions for the ocean, and this is what I found. Sorry for being a newbie just wanted to know if these conditions are considered rough so I can let me buddies know to prepare themselves. Thanks in advance.

yep thats rough. I doubt your fishing out west. You should look at weather reports in the area 100 miles south of SD

    'Rough' is relative.
I wouldn't go out in that regardless of how far apart the swells are; which is an important factor not included in that report.....If it's "rough' I'm a wait til next week guy.....I don't have fun if I'm getting beat up. I've caught fish before.

Your buddies are planning on fishing in that zone or a 2 day out of SD?

where are you going that is 60-150 miles in that direction? like the other posts suggest, i also would stay home if you are truly going out that way. if you are a newbie as your posts said, this sounds like a bad idea

Hell.....That's TUNA weather right there...! Just put on longer topshots for the cushion or you will be breaking off close to the boat.

No matter what the forecast says, it's always a good idea to take some sort of sea sickness meds if you don't go out often and I mean often like once a week. Your buddy that "never gets seasick" and does not listen is often the first one to get sick. Why spend all that money and spend the time puking? Med up and forget about it.

You won't be in the area mentioned in post number seven, either. You will be about 90 to 120 miles south of there. That report is only for as far south as the border.

If you were going to fish the Cortez you'd be looking at that.
Typically you would not be that far offshore. I'm on a 2 day this weekend as well (Pac Voyager) and I am hoping Saturday shows it coming down some. Looks like most of the wind is late in the day/at night. That's the killer.
I liked it when they updated the weather on the 9's.........

This is what I quite don't understand yet. Just getting into the baja/mx fishing and i'm not quite sure why everyone looks at a forecast that doesn't pertain to the grounds you'll be fishing (down to the border). I like looking at passageweather and it gives me a graphical shot of the entire baja. Tell me if i'm wrong. Learn how to read the weather bars and it's tells you how much wind you'll be getting. I see 10-15kts of predominantly NW wind on Saturday.

Mike, do you see any Mexican buoys? I know you're not telling me you follow a US weather report for Baja 120-150 miles south of the point are you? Or are you?

I use the NDBC religously brotha, but for when I fish in California. I fish commercially, so I TRUST the NDBC with my life.

In all honestly, no sarcasm, i'm really just wondering why everyone follows a weather report that is from San Mateo Pt to the Mexican Border. Please give me details to WHY and if it makes sense I will glady admit i'm wrong.
