The Kencor 8' Swimbait/Inshore rod is a good rod to start with. 3 actions to choose from, 10-20lb, 12-25lb, and 15-30 pound sticks. Beautiful blanks.

kind of old thread but I have to ask

what differences had you found in these 2 reels? gold one and the new grey
I read on tackle direct review that new ones are much better than the old ones, but mostly because of the ARBB bearings.

BTW Im asking this because I just got an new in box 200 GOLD cardiff reel, I found at a great price in one of the "closing store" of sportsman wharehouse.

Question for all you guys fishing production shimano swimbait rods like terramar and crucial, etc. Do you guys find that the heavier swimbait rods have a long enough handle, meaning when you have the rod under your pit, retrieving your swimmy, or fighting your fish, do you have an adqeuate amount of rod butt protruding behind your pit so you get full leverage. Or are many of you just dealing with that one deficiency since that is the only downfall and the rods are so well priced and fish a swimbait pretty good?

The swimbait rods i recently built addressed that issue and the difference in comfort in all aspects of the rod are improved by the longer butt which is ideal for swim bait fishing.
