JWell I hope this help's pass the time...... So I went back home (Oahu Hawaii) for some time to play in the deep blue ocean. I had a lot of fishing trips planed but the Ice storm in Seattle screwed my trips up. I got out once the rest of the trips were blown out do to weather. I hooked up with my friend Jon and we went out on his friends boat Lady D with capt Charlie. Onboard with Brada Ken and Lance, they did a great job on setting gear as I took in the views. Capt Charlie took us out of Waianae and we started to troll our way to Haliewa, we trolled to V buoy then to II and then to J buoy see birds and Porpoises working but no love here!!!!!! so we headed back to Waianae we were about three miles from shore and BAM center rod goes off and starts screaming the reel we cleared all the lines and the fight was on I worked the reel and Brah da Ken started hand lining the fish in Yes this is the way most of the locals do it if you charter then you sit in the chair and work the fish. All I do is take up the slack in the line, then Brah da Lance took over for Ken and Brah da Jon took over for me the fish ran a couple of times it took at least 500 yds of line. Ken took over at the end as Lance and I graffed the fish. One in the boat and blood on the deck:finger: We caught a AHI Tuna (yellow fin) but in Hawaii they call it (Shibi) anything under a 100lbs this one was 75lbs (shibi)That was it for the day Went to Charlies house to cut it up and eat some fresh sashimi:finger: Charlie sent Jon and I home with a ton of fish which I ate poke style and more sashimi. Weather turned bad and that was my only trip out but my friend Jon got a call From Brah da Billy to come by and pick up some Marlin (shibi) and off we went more sashimi for us I want to thank all the Brah dah for their Aloha.. Charlie, Jon, Ken, Lance, Max, and Billy

Looks awesome! Here are a couple pics to add to the winter time viewing of a mahi and striped marlin. My old man lives in Ocean View this time of year and has caught a couple fish last week near Kona in his 15 foot arima. I am going there next week for 7 days and hope we get lucky.

Tom, why did you guys take the Grundens off for the pictures?

Heck, all you guys did. Is that a Hawaiian custom?

Sometimes, in the more mild months of winter here like July and August, we take pictures wearing only the bottoms and a polar fleece top.

The center was rigged almost the same as the Scarface lure on Bombay lures, I only remembered that because when I took the hook out the barb was bent and it feel out. Keep me posted also try the POKE BOYS I think they are in Kona, fresh poke yum yum

Thanks for sharing Tom. Looks like you were using those humongous penn senators. Hard to get spooled when yur crankin on a reel that has 1300+ yards or line.

Look's like a fun trip with friends and seeing family! I'm sure there was no shortage of cigar smoke rolling off the back of that boat.
