Just wondering if anyone has or knows anyone that has installed a pair of 350 Suzukis on their boat? Would like to talk to them.

They had them on display at the PME this weekend. They looked great.

I also checked out a couple of the diesel outboards that were on display. The gear box of the OXE was interesting and built to handle the torque. But it’s only listed at 200hp. Cool technology though.

They sure look tempting Ron, but I don't think you would like to be part of Suzuki's R&D department would you?

All kidding aside, I have always followed a rule of thumb I learned many many years ago about ANYTHING mechanical.

Never buy brand new, never made before makes or models, you end up becoming part of the Research & Devolpement Department of the company you just handed tens of thousands of your hard earned dollars to, aka a "Guinea Pig".

If the engine was the same as the V-6 300 that has currently been out for some time now, just up-tuned, I would be less cautious, but from my look into it, it is not, it is basically brand new from the dual props up to the engine cover.

If I was inclined to do it, the FACTORY would have to give me like a 5-7 year bumper to bumper warranty on it, no second tier warranties after 2 or 3 years like some manufacturers do.

Good luck if you do it.

    WD.

Talked to a guy at the expo from Florida, that has done 50 or so repowers. Most of the repowers have been Yamaha 350's to Zuke. Impressive numbers if he's a straight shooter.

one of my concerns is the 12-1 compression ratio. Gas is pretty crappy anymore. Weight is a little more than my 300s. They have been around for 4 years testing them. Not sure if the additional 100 horses would overcome the 140 additional pouinds for the pair. There is a cha ching charters that has a pretty long center console that just put them on. I know they are relatively new releases. Was hoping someone in the area had a pair on their boat. The new technology will supposedly run the high compression ratio. I would like to see .3 mpg increase if possible and higher top speed. But my boat is pretty heavy. Might wait to see what becomes of them or if it going to make much difference. The motors will hook right in to my fly by wire. Just have to change the computers. Thanks to all. Crazy Jeff, Yamis to Zukes

I think you need to put a pair of the 300hp diesel outboards on that girl Ron.

The Oxe, a 200 HP Diesel OB was priced around 40K two years ago. It's belt driven.

The Cox is a 8cyl that is connected to the lower end by the crankshaft. 725#. It was massive, 2nd isle over from the Oxe. Which was on the end isle. They had the cowls off to look at it. The Cox was closed up and the rep was not interested in showing how it looked under the cowl.

2 years ago that was the One. Still in development and now looks to be coming out for retail.

Gotta wait till the Navy and the CG gets a few to thrash and test. Young kids can fuck up the best ideas and machinery.

John, are you talking about the 300's or 350 Zukes? I'm confused by the 2 year delivery.

I don't think he needs to borrow your walker. You better hang onto that. Winter is coming and we don't want you to slip on the ice. :frehya2:
