The Intrepid and Captain Jesus have not posted a report for the last three days. Does that mean he has simply been motoring the boat around without fishing? The last few months have indicated he likes to drive the boat as much as possible and fish as little as possible. At least the passengers are getting what they expected.Just being a troublemaker, jumping on the BD bandwagon. Respects to the captain, crew, and passengers on the Intrepid.

Actually ,they have probably located the big tuna on the lower banks and simply don't want to share with the code group.TwentySix 300 lbers caught over the last three days and no other boat to pressure the bite.Yeah, that's it!

    Happy Holidays everyone.

I was on Larry Browns 13 day trip and was told that due to mechanical problems the trip was cancelled. There is no mention on their Facebook page about the engine failure. Could it be they cancelled because they only had 16 of 22 passengers? I guess we will know when it gets to the dock. Anyway, I just booked the RRIII for ten days.

Everyone took my post so literally. Captain Jesus C. posted reports for the last few days after I created this thread. They were not on the Intrepid site before 11am today,Holybull. I'm not saying my thread had anything to do with the timing of Jesus posting reports.

Again, I was just having a little fun at the expense of the Intrepid and Captain Jesus.

In reality, can a boat with 16 out of a max 22 paid passengers simply cancel a trip at last minute? Profit margin may not exist with only 16 passengers. I'm too lazy to check out brochures, but wondering what may allow a boat to cancel at last minute if boat is tiptop and captain and crew are available? Not meeting the profit margin(16 fully paid passengers) cannot be enough.

I guess we might have a chance to find out on January 24, as that trip is a limited load of 20 with 9 openings. Then, have a look at the June and July schedules. Three trips with 18-22-25 openings. Hope they fill in. It can be a tough scramble to find a trip at the last minute.

Hmmm Danny…...39 posts and a wannabe comedian at a working guy's expense. Not cute.

About Jesus. He was working the Indy deck one year on a 7 dayer, our trip was rough and we were picking away at the Bluefin on the drift. And me being a good friend and smart ass, not sure which one more. I setup my novice fishing buddy with a 20lb rig on Penn 525Mag with a whippy rod. As luck with have it, my buddy hooks up and fights the fish for a good 30 minutes. Jesus stood next to him and coached and encouraged him you wouldn't believe. At one point, I asked Jesus if he wanted to take the rod and just finish it and Jesus basically said no reason too, Max could do it. My friend brought in the fish and I would say it's all because Jesus was there next to him.

Jesus is one of the nicest crew member that I've ever meet and I wish him the best at his shot at being a Captain of a LR boat. It's not easy finding biting fish all the time and manage also a moving hotel.

I'm paid in full for the January 24th trip... I imagine that we will pick up a few passengers given the cancellation of the Larry Brown trip.

I've been trying to find a phone number or email address for Soft Steel or Tony Garza to see if he has heard any news about "go/no go". If anyone knows how to get ahold of them, can you pass the info along in a pm?

    Thanks!!

I know it s not fun coming back up only doing 6 knots from 400 miles south of SD. That's something like 3 days of travel time can't get much fishing in on the way up

    Man , another Intrepid Post.
Wait - I heard they had a clogged toilet yesterday! news at 11 .

Seriously though , Some good news about the cancelling of their December trips (for whatever reason) is that other trips are now filling up as well as some open spots on the other boats as anglers switch their trips around. My slim chance to go on one this winter/spring just got slimmer.

That's rough. Sounds like major repair costs and weeks without revenue. I'd guess the current trip would receive some form of reimbursement or at least discount on future trips.

The engine is not blown they had a water flow problem so they shut it down as a precaution so a major repair not needed…..they are making 8 knots and everything is good …caught lots of YFT and YT…..
