I must admit, I used to fish a half day trip on the Queen of the Sea from Belmont Pier. Used to be four color sections and 15 numbers. From wherever you began, the rotation would take you clockwise around the boat.

Very fortunate to have a bit more money now and able to afford longer trips with lighter loads. Cannot imagine 80 anglers on one boat, not even one as large and spacious as Excel.

Fished with Coach on the Rooster where we had that guy that bitched about everything. Dude gets pissed at one of the deckhands, hes yelling in the galley what a piece of shit said deckhand is. Coach tells him if he doesnt calm down and shut up hes sending him to his room. Everyone in the galley starts cracking up. Dude stomps off to his room. Didnt see much of him after that.

No you wouldn't . Back in the late 80's the coach was 6'4" 235 or so, trust me I know.

Coach happened to be on one of my long trips (not his charter) 5-6 years ago. Nothing negative stands out in my memory, he did give me a few hints on what was working for him getting bit in a picky bite. Maybe he liked me because I was the only other person who knew how to play cribbage on our trip. As Fishy said, he is a big dude, I would guess much bigger than #235 now.

And I do know a certain "Bob" who recently got banned from the operation I ride. Fishing the stern was certainly more relaxing on my last trip.

Took my son who was 12 at the time on his first "Long Range"On the RR3 for a 5 day.Upon getting settled and meeting other anglers noticed two gentleman that were brothers enjoying beers on the ride to the bait tank.I say beers because one brother would get "a" beer and the other one "4" In another 20 same thing! This went on all afternoon and night while heading to Guadalupe. We get to the island and start fishing and by 11:00 or so we are notified that the brother drinking the "4" is bleeding inside the throat area from years of drinking and it is not subsiding. The crew is down in the gentlemans room and it looks like a " Dexter scene" We are at the East end of Guadalupe and Andy jumps into action and calls Coast Guard for a Heli rescue! They inform him we will have to head about 5 miles off the West end as that was their extent of range.I saw 27 anglers instead of griping , rush around to clear the deck of any objects for the lift. The lift was a success, the gentleman was lifted to Scripps just in time. The brother was apologizing for the problems and was met with hugs, well wishes and support! I never heard one angler on that trip complain of lost fishing time which tells me that 98% of fisherman are Great people! My son learned a valuable lesson in those 5 days.

Come on. Admit it. Nothing to be ashamed of. I fished the Sport King out of LA Harbor and the Monte Carlo and remember the colors and rotation.
Nothing at the time beat a twilight trip when the sand bass wanted to die. Of course I also remember the 3/4 day to Cat with barracuda and a few yellows in the hot sun all day.
Now we need our limited load trips with 5 meals, RSW, 15 rods and all the other comforts to enjoy fishing. My how times have changed or I'm just getting old

Speed twin became a "kicked off a long range boat" theme? If Channel Islands is long range then hell, call me a seasoned long ranger. I apologize in advance as it's Friday and I have partaken in such un holy elixirs this post has mentioned. Love it tho, keep it coming...

Hahahaha, seriously, speaking of getting picked off an LR boat. My morbid curiousity wants to know if he's BS'ing the creds. I grew up with a fair number of people in that circle, and outside of Mark Owen and Brandon Webb most wouldn't advertise any of that.

    Did I read wrong?
Is this "Has Anyone Been Kicked Off a LR Board"?
