Has anyone added a reel seat to deckhand jig stick?

UC comp 900 Del Mar, 30-60lb. Currently deckhand style with cork. I have where my reel is comfortable and ergonomically feels good with casting. The rod seems thin and was wondering about the possibility of having a reel seat installed. Anyone had this done?

Easy to do and since that blank has a smaller butt that most every else jig stick you will get a wide variety of seat options that won’t be too bulky.

As another option there are reel plates.
Google "Fuji NS7 then hit "Images"
There are several styles and finishes.
Also search this site for "Fuji NS7"

Very easy to install. Wrap ends with some small Para Cord and soak with a couple of coats of epoxy.

    WOW!
Never seen such an apparatus...Expect to get some whispers from the Crew...LOL Looks to be well made? My 1st thought is seems like it would make the rod feel out of balance being off to the side??

Being off to the side? How so? The reel would be mounted on top in the normal position. I've used one in the past for a light FW rod. Based on that experience, I wouldn't use that on a saltwater rod. Certainly not on a jigstick. They may have improved in the last 40 years though yet I seriously doubt it.

the fuji wrap on reel seats are god for 30lb , over you're pushing it, they don't hold a reel down as tight as a conventional reel seat, your clamp is doing most of the holding. i wrapped quite a few and seen them fail.

I used xwrap and a cork puppy on my del mar. I wrapped the top grip with 3m double tape and then a winn wrap.

I have slipped a reel seat over the butt end and used cork, 3m 2x and winn wraps to make the grips

If you decide to go with 3m and winn wraps, be sure to spiral in opposite directions.

Super easy. Did it on my 900 Wahoo. Thin blank, no big taper so the reel seat doesn’t look oversized on the rod.
