Took my family to stay at Hamilton Cove this past week. Really didn't focus on fishing as my wife and daughter have never been, but I did manage to convince them to get on an Avalon rental with me of hopes of seeing them pull on their first yellowtail. There was definitely some yellowtail activity as there was a constant flotilla working between Willow Cove and Long Point every day during our stay. Trolled Rapala's and a Carolina rig with an artifical squid and managed about 5 bonito in a couple hours. Regardless, it was fun watching them get their first pull in fresh or salt water.

Here's the view from our unit balcony. If you haven't experienced staying at Hamilton Cove, I highly recommend it. A little pricey, but lots of amenities to take advantage of. I stayed there often when I moored my boat at the island (oh I miss that boat). Labor Day weekend should be nuts over there. Enjoy the holiday, and be safe!

Fun stuff! The views are nice from there and a little bit away from all the crazyness of Avalon! Sounds like a fun weekend!!

I feel rested just seeing that view.

Looks like you could cast off the balcony.

Hamilton Cove, vacation spot of the high rollers and home to million dollar condos (and that was back in the day when they were first built).

Sure beats sleeping in the cuddy cabin of my small boat!

    Sounds like a fun trip.

Do yourselves a favor and stay away from Avalon (or on the water in general) for the holiday if you are fishing. Now, if you are going on a fox hunt, that may be a different story!

That places wreaks therapy. Although the wifey wasn't 100% about the idea, I convinced her to let me sleep with the doors and windows all night, every night. Not one mosquito. Just a shitload of those pesky yellowjackets on the beach and around the boat during the day. A-typical Catalina in the warmer months.

My Seawswirl was about your size (24 ft), and more than two nights was a little too cozy in my cuddy (for me). Hard to beat the hot shower, too.

There's definitely some revived development going on in there now. Wrigley family must have approved some new units. There's also 2-3 mega-size homes that were built near the back/top of the development with the same architecture as the condos. If I win the lottery, I'll have you over for a beer! First I need to play....

Stayed at HC half a dozen times. Always enjoyed it...and yes, pricey is a fair statement.

It's all the amenities that are hard to beat.

Thanks for checking in from the midwest, Mikey!

It looks like you could surf fish from your balcony.
Looks like a beautiful place to hang out with the family.

Looked at buying one until I saw the $900 a month HOA fee with a escalating fee clause.....but, it is definitely a fun place to rent and decompress for a few days....

I was tempted, Corey. Below us you could easily walk out on the bluff and make an easy cast with a 10' spinner. Each morning there was a 3-4' guitar fish roaming the shallow 100 yards up and back. He was definitely the neighborhood bully. Could have been a fun pull & release from the shoreline.

There is a cove there where you can take the kids out to feed the Garibaldi's. 72 degree refreshment!

Hamilton Cove is a great place to stay in Catalina. One of the few places on the island that has a pool and most come with golf carts to take the kids for evening Big Olaf's ice cream runs.

Way to go getting the kids on a rental boat fish!
