Landed a nice little flatty today with @Bradley Martin

I left SB harbor around 12:30pm and was targeting calicos/sand bass fish our regular spots. Wind wasn’t bad but waves were pumping, really good current and marked some good rocks and gave it a go.
Got lucky when we were just about to go in. Had a good fight and very grateful.

31 inches and about 20 lbs (more like 18lbs but we’re taking fish stories)
Brad helped me get in it the boat, I didn’t have a gaff so Brad grabbed the braid and pulled while I bounced it in the boat.

Got it with a Calcutta 820 rod Calcutta 400.
50lb braid with 25 top shot on plastic big hammer.
Cooked it on the spot tonight with butter and capers. Damn yummy.

I don't want to diminish your catch ..but a 31 inch halibut is about a 12-14 lb fish...I was a commercial rod and reel halibut dude and caught many of those models. Nice catch no matter and the best to eat
