Decided to get away from the crowds and do some halibut fishing. Choice paid off and my buddy landed this monster on 20 pound line. Our scale maxes out at 30 pounds so we couldn't get a weight on it but it was just under 51 inches long. Guessing it was in the 45-50 pound range. Picked up 2 other halibut and a WSB but they were not picture worthy once this hit the deck.

On a side note we also caught the biggest fantail sole I have ever seen and when we cleaned it we found it was stuffed with some odd looking shrimp. Doing some research I think maybe "target shrimp"? Never seen them before so I figured I would share. 20180702_151342.jpg 20180702_154149.jpg

Don't think so, I have caught them before and they had a wider body and different build. Plus these didn't have those wicked pokers on them but that was my first thought when I saw them

Sweet fish. If you measured the fish with the mouth closed, it would surely be over 50lbs at this time in the season. I think those are Spot Prawns in the other photo?
