Cabin fever was in full force on Saturday morning. Arrived at the harbor about 0500 - the most boats I've seen heading out of Haleiwa in a long time. Unfortunately, the weather was not as promised. Winds from the west made it touch to get any bait. Trolled up toward Kahuku with no luck. Cleared lines and tried our luck on the bottom. We are new to deep water bottom fishing, but we had good marks on the sounder. Figuring out the drift and wind was tough, but we got two opakapaka in the boat. Set trolling lines and pounded back to the harbor - again no luck trolling. Good to get on the water and have a little success with the bottom fishing.
