Awesome trip and very accountant style of reporting of the numbers! Appropriately, you being in finance.
You only burnt 360 gallons in your 35'? I'm jealous! Including Ensenada stops, I figure that's a 500 mile round trip plus idling from San Diego. If you're in San Clemente, that's 100 more miles roundtrip. Do you have a single or twin screws?
My single 4 Cylinder turbo diesel Volvo gets 2+ in my 26'.

    Bill,

The key to these long trips is fuel management and my 35' Cabo with twin 3208 Cat 435hps have optimal fuel efficiency at hull speed which for this vessel is right at 6.7 knots. I get about 3.5 nmpg at that speed. When I pick up and run on plane, I see 0.8nmpg at 23-27 knots and wide open at 33 knots, I get 0.5 nmpg.

The 7.6kw Genny burns about 0.3-0.5 gallons per hour depending on load. It ran for 4 days straight.

Fuel tank is 400 gallons so I have a usable 1,000 nmpg range at troll.

Slower is cheaper for sure but for many folks time is money..........

We ran 150 nm at 25 knots during the trip which ate some fuel.

That's good info, thanks. I second the notion that the need for speed needs to be resisted to get the mileage and save on the wallet...
