Set out from "La Mariana" yesterday for our 1st run of 2011. The water was super flat as we ran down to BO. Nothing at BO for us so we start to work toward the cup. Few miles later the rigger comes down but doesn't stick, then the other side comes down and after a few more whacks we come tight on a hebi about 30 or so. After boating it we turn around and quickly get a ono on the center.
Just as we boat the ono a huge rain squall comes in and the weather goes from flat and sunny to storming rain and hold on to your ass rough. We ride around for about an hour until the weather passes and then like magic its flat calm again and we end up right in the middle of a pack of stripey's and small mahis. For the next 1 1/2 hours we must have about a dozen strikes. Doubles, triples... comes off then... come tight again.. mahi's and stripey's going crazy. Out of all of that we manage 2 stripey's and a mahi. Not a good strike to catch ratio but lots of fun!

sounds like Mayhem on the high seas. Good going on the fish. Really nice to hear that there are some fish around. We were out Kaneohe yesterday and got caught in that front too. Wind kicked up in a Hurry and laid down just as fast.

    G and crew,
Banner day for sure; good to hear the weather dropped back off, cold fronts can be down right spooky. Nice mixed bag of fish right there...

Smokin' catch, Garrett and crew! Blessed with terrific weather, calm seas, and fish swarming around the lures.....now that's what I call a great day on the water. Congratulations on a job well done!

Right on with the lure testing session you had. Lures look just like some that I have too! Glad you were able to stick a few, it's like a chinese fire drill when the Stripeys make their appearance, hope they make their way to Molokai soon, haven't eaten one of them in a long time. Congrats!
