There are a lot of good choices out there. Depends on what gear ratios your prefer, how you plan on using it and what brands you like.

I have a Fathom 40 NLD2 on mine but it will get replaced with the Makaira 15T soon. Haven't tried the Talica.

    More details will help:
    Intended line test/type?
    Line capacity comfort level?
Favorite technique [live bait, fall-type jigs, iron]?
Medium frame or heavy frame preference?
    Budget?

    OK great.
You appear to be leaning toward a "medium frame" reel; if 400-425 yards is sufficient capacity for you, the PENN Torque TRQ30LD2 is very light [21 ounces] and will cast a sardine a very long way. If you want something around 550 yards of capacity, the TRQ40NLD2 gives that extra yardage, plus a lower "Low" gear; still only 27 ounces, and the upcoming TRQ60LD2 will hold 750-800 yards of 80 pound braid while weighing only 28 ounces.
A "heavy frame" model like an International 12VISX holds about 550-600 yards of 80 braid, and is about 32 ounces, with an even lower "Low". The 16VISX bumps to holding 700 of 80, at 36 ounces.
There are a number of threads here at BDO that cover the advantages of both medium and heavy frame reels.

I think you would be good with a Talica 16 for that rod if that’s what you really like and want to have.

Confidence in and feeling good about your equipment goes a long way in fishing.

    Note: I don’t have a raptor but a 60-80 rod is generally a 60-80 rod. :)

The raptor is a heavy rod though and I am curious about how the tac 16ii will balance the rod. I think it would be a really fun combo though.

With a 16 visx, that’s gonna be a pretty heavy set up to have in your hands all day for bait fishing for 60-80. Not so sure I would enjoy carrying that set up around all day.

As stated above, the Raptor is a heavy rod to use for bait.

I have the Predator (same 50-80# as the Raptor) with a 12ii and it's a well balanced combo. Really light bait rig.

on 15 days we fish ex30 and ex50 for days at a time, the 16 feels light as a feather in comparison. The trick is to have something up to the task when nature calls

I have a Talica16ii on my 8' Raptor. It's really nice for tossing sardines or squid for BFT. Filled it with 80# Maxcurado, plenty of yardage and power for fish up to 100#

    Hi Brian,
I think the Talica 16 is on the small side for the UC Raptor.
If you are sold on the Talica line, I would suggest a 20 or maybe a 25. The Talica reels are beutiful reels, but I find their handle knobs to be too small, the handle arms to short, and the low gears to high (3:1 for the 16). Cal Sheets advertises lower gears for them, at a significant cost; the fact that he is advertising the lower gear upgrades suggests that a number of fisherman have a problem with the gears. Beautiful reels, though.
For my Raptor, I plan to fish a larger reel such as a ....
    A) Avet HX or HXW Raptor, with it's low gear (1.9:1); or
    B) Penn TRQ 40 N LD2, outstanding reel with a nice big football handle knob;
    or
    C) Wait for the TRQ 60 LD2 to show up.
I would also consider a Penn 12 VISX or 16 VISX.
I think the Talica 16 would be more for a UC Predator (7'6",50-80) or similar rod. I am just afraid of someone scratching my Talicas, so they will stay home.
One persons opinion, consider other opinions too.
