Took the boys down south around the nados to scratch the itch.

We found REALLY good fishing for nice red in the 2-4# range and a really solid handful of stand outs over 5#.

We have been LOVING the slow pitch technique for the last couple trips. We are using the PENN Battalion SPJ rods and Fathom Low Pro's and Fathom 8s and 10's. These paired up with Nomad Buffalo jigs (move hooks to eye side for SPJ) and Nomad Gypsie jigs from 120g to 300g has been working awesome and helps to weed out the smaller fish.

This trip they definitely preferred squid and gulp over the jigs with instant bites but we all like the light gear so much more we worked a little harder to get them on the jigs. No surprise they were into the bait more, most of the fish were puking up squid and small shrimp.

Got checked by DFG while anchored in the bay cutting fish. Super cool guy/gal. Checked out licenses and BS'd for a few before taking off.

It sucks that pics never do these large rockfish justice but here are a few from the day.

Yes sir. One and the same. I can't shake the old guy.

Keep in touch and we'll make it happen.
