Heading down to Gonzaga next Monday for Thanksgiving week. Any reports on water temps or fishing? Taking the kids and my 17’ bayrunner. I’ve seen the road reports and hopefully slow and steady saves the trailer. Any info is appreciated. I’ll send a report when I get into Alphonsinas.

My buddy headed there today with his 22’ Robalo and went for it. Will update when I hear from him.

The Baja 1000 course goes right through there this year. Race starts November 16th so you should be clear. Not sure if they will make the road better or worse. I am heading down with a 20' skiff and hoping the road is not too bad.

    Good luck.

We were there about 2 weeks ago, took 3 1/2 hours from San Felipe, 10 foot Cabover pulling a trailer with a boat and side by side, stayed at Camp Turistico just above Punta Bufeo, alot of Sierras and 1 Dodo about 20 lbs, nice place to camp, clean bathrooms and showers, easy beach launching, Luis the owner is one of Papa fernandes grandsons, they also have a restuarant, easy access to the Islands.

Does anyone remember the local radio channel? I seem to remember 17 or 73... maybe?

Sure but if the wind picks up you won’t make it back and it does quickly

Thanks for the replies. I’ll be in a white tundra pulling a bayrunner if you see me and want to caravan or say hi. Hoping to cross at Mexicali around 6 am.

Bold but not unheard of. I’d recommend a buddy boat that knows your plans and a radio at the very least... but the coast is REALLY GOOD, islands aren’t as enchanted as you might think, and the boilers can sneak up on you if you don’t know where to look

I am really curious about camping at Punta Final. We usually make camp at Papa Fernandez but wanted to find somewhere a bit south (near Punta Final). Any directions you can give or a view from Google Earth?

Rancho Grande, campo Beluga and campo Sacrificio all have camping available. Depends on what your looking for and where you want to be. Sacrificio is closest to pinta final and has trailers and a restaurant. PM me if you want more info and we can set up a phone call or you can find more info on google and Facebook.

Just got back. Roads are bad but passable. Took me an extra 2.5 hours but trucks and cars were flying by. Fishing was good. Cabrilla, abberjacks and roosters. Everything was on iron except for the little roosters.
