Nice, after landing a large BFT on a skiff using the rail a stand up set up makes sense to me. Who makes the connection to the rod in lieu of the reel lugs?

Perfect combination. Black hole rod, JM reel and John as the angler. Big fish don’t stand a chance.

Excellent. Big kudos to the angler; great standup technique and never touched any part of the boat with the rod. And to the Captain, who perfectly positioned his boat and never moved; didn't have to bump the boat once, and made a perfect shot with the dart. And to the tackle which did the job beautifully. Finally, 2 thumbs up for the Captain's comment at 4:08.

Beautiful in every respect. Flat water, nice weather, great boat setup for the fight, skilled angler, beautiful fish, good gear, good crew and a perfect dart shot at the end. Can't think it gets much better than that. :-)

Hi Kil.
How much drag is he pulling in that shot? Looks to be a ton.
Those 'little' rods are amazing.
