Yup i am aware of that. I just wanna get it close than what it is now.
What color are you trying to match ? What brand of boat ? Sometimes the tints you need you would not expect to need.

Yeah that's not what im looking for i tired matching my own gelcoat its close but not quite the same.
If you got it close do a heavy cut compound buff on and around it. Then polish and wax it. Sometimes it takes up some color on the heavy cut from the surrounding area and blends it.

Trying to match a white, its a Maritime skiff. i bought 3 different whites and they are all a little different.

Yeah i got it close, than once i wet sanded it looked pretty dam good. But once you buff it and add some shine thats where you see the color difference.

Heres a rod holder i filled and gelcoated. In the pics it looks good but once i buffed it you can tell its way too white.

Getting a good gelcoat color match is easy to get, I used GCP in Seattle. I sent them a small cutoff scrap and they color matched using a spectrophotometer, came out great. Spectrum gelcoat has factory original gelcoat color for a lot of boats.
