So I am fed up with my Raymarine Axiom 9RV. I want to switch to a Garmin. What Garmin is everyone else running? I would like a Combo unit that I can expand eventually to 2 units one dedicated to chart plotter and one to sounder. Any recommendation guys? Its going on a 25ft CC with a Yamaha 300 four stroke.

I run double 942xs units. I typically have one on Navigation and the other on Chirp.

If you can fit double 10 or 12 inch units on your boat, that would be nice.

I just got the garmin g3 vision chart chip. There was a $200 rebate and it is amazing. You can see so many details.
Rebate from Garmin? I'm running a 7610xsv. These units can run separate xducers and have all the networking capabilities you'd want. 86series are the newest versions. Semperfifishing is the man for your electronics stuff.

yeah it was a garmin rebate, just got the card in the mail last week. It was for folks that bought a chartcard and a combo unit. The chart card was $270 and the rebate was $200!

I run the 1042xsv, xHD 18 radar and a through hull transducer and love set up. I previously had a cheap 541 unit which was a great little unit but man the new stuff is insane! The 10" screen works just fine spilt between the FF and nav but if you have the $$ and space, why not have 2 screens.

I couldn't fit 10 inch screens unless I wanted them to remove the entire front panel. Happy with my setup. Two screens is a must.

That's a sick setup that's what I'm looking to do. I like the 943xsv always liked the 2 screen setup. Wanted to do it with the Axiom but just couldn't get used to it. So might as well make the change now before I bought the second Axiom unit.

So when I change over to the Garmin my understanding is that they come pre loaded with the maps and I wont need Navionics is this correct?
I am looking at the 943xsv and it is preloaded with the BlueChart G3. I really like the G3 vision so would have to up grade to that. but the plan is to purchase 2 of the 943's one XSV and one just the 943. Thoughts anyone?

The current Garmin units are preloaded with the G3 Blue charts...correct.

And for the overall cost of your boat..adding another $100 for the second unit to be an xsv ... is really a good move as it will give you sonar redundancy..and the ability to add a second ducer later if you wish.
