Fullerton laguna lake bass

Only had an hour to kill, so went down to local park lake and caught this bass on deps cover scat I picked up at fisherman's access.

Is this a large mouth or small mouth?

I rarely fish freshwater. Should do it more often.

Saw a turtle too just chillin in the sun.

I live not far from there. I have fished it a few times.
It has some nice bass that the hardcore local lakes walkers' target.

I caught a 3.5 lb bass there about 50 years ago. Many small ones… Roostertail spinner.

I used to drive by there everyday back in the early 80’s when I lived off Euclid/Rosecrans and worked at Harbor/Lambert.

I grew up nearby in Brea. As a middle school kid in the mid 80’s me and my buddies spent countless days fishing Laguna Lake and raising hell there in general. Occasionally our fathers would join us after work for what they called “beers and bluegills.” Brings back great memories.

Growing up in Fullerton my mom would drop me off at the Lake and I would fish for hours.My my moms health was failing in her early 90s I would drive her around the Lake after we had breakfast as she lived in Brea.Tom

My twin brother, Rob, and I rode our bikes there a bunch of times between 1960 and 1965.
It was named Bastanchury lake back then. I caught my first bass there and we had our bicycles stolen once.
We had so much fun there. I miss my bro. Cancer took him in 2017, age 63. I'll be wearing some of his clothing so he will be with me this Saturday at the Bart Hall Show. See You there.....

About 20 years ago they found a 4ft long 100lb snapping turtle living in the lake.

Anyone know what area in that lake is best for bluegill? Would love to get my littles to catch some. Tried taking them to tri-city with a bobber and red worms but we didn't catch any there. Also tried yorba regional but the turtles were to aggressive and kept eating the worms. Have to fish worms b/c i can't trust my 5 yr old to cast a mini jig without hooking into me or brother lol.

Largemouth

A Largemouth with a small mouth. There are some Pigs in that lake. I often walk the lake in the morning throwing a 5 inch Fluke. I get a few Monster followers each trip and a nice Bass from time to time. My biggest landed there is a 6 pounder but I see large Bass often. If only I was young again and could jump the fence at night….the super clear water is not conducive for Daytime Fishing the big Baits. Sooner or later, I’ll get another picture fish.
