Another great week, and we couldn’t be more stoked for all of the great fishing action we’ve been getting lately in La Paz. We’ve had a good number of successful sportfishing charters and between our spearfishing branch we’ve brought in some nice mixed bags, and even started hooking & releasing a few billfish back into the Sea of Cortez.

THE WEATHER
The weather conditions in La Paz have been swaying around some cleaner blue water with the sea surface temps varying between 78 – 86 F. We had some wind from the south around mid-July then we slowly but steadily transitioned to more flat calm waters. Some mornings have been pretty cool and refreshing lately. Summer in Baja is among the best times of the year for various reasons, especially a lot of the little factors coming together to provide the best fishing action of the year.

THE FISH
With some Sargassum moving into La Paz Bay, we’ve seen good numbers of Dorado, while some other spots have shown an increasing presence of marlin and sailfish, which have begun to move in closer to the area. Just yesterday one of our charters saw a few schools of tuna mayhem as they were leaping out of the water, therefore the Tuna bite has been hot hot hot!

Also quite hot, are the grills of our neighboring restaurant Azul Marino, which is a great place to grab a refreshing drink, and turn your catch of the day into a delicious meal you will never forget.

PISTOLEROS DEL MAR

Our spearfishing branch has stayed busy and they put our latest guests on some beautiful Wahoo, Tuna, Pargo and even Mahis to keep things interesting. We’re starting to prepare in anticipation of the Pacific Side Camp season, which provides a perfect balance between a Lush sea of Cortez accommodations and the untamed beachfront off-grid experience in world-class reef/bluewater diving spots.

We’re in for another great year of fishing adventures, reaching towards further locations like MagBay and Rancho La Aguja on the Pacific side, we’re gearing up to roam further and we’d like you to be a part of it!

Until the next report, we hope to sea you soon!
