Fuel tank cleaning and coating

I have the aluminum fuel tank removed from my skiff for some other work on decking / stringer and am Considering having the tank cleaned and possibly coated to ensure a long life once it is reinstalled.

its aluminum , 65 gals , no leaks and In good shape. About 8 yrs old only.

any thoughts on local place to have it cleaned and coated.
coal tar expoxy for protective coating ?
any feedback greatly appreciated

You might try Ace radiator for the cleaning and RW little for the coating

Coated my tank with black tar from proline paint.

does this product require an activator or is it a two part application?

Yes, it’s a 2 part epoxy and uses 1 qt. hardener/gallon, usually sold together

Who'd you have clean the tank? Thinking of doing the same as we're repowering and want to start off clean from the start. Thx!

I did not have it professionally cleaned. Inside was very clean, no issues. after empty I flushed with a small amount of gas and vacumed it out.

tank was out only so I could repair a bad stringer. I did coat it with coal tar expoxy discussed earlier in post.

Don't vacuum gas if you are not trying to make a flame thrower.
