2 days in a row. Went To the island today with a friend. Mission was to bug dive SCUBA then drift backside for halibut. Fog slowed us down quite a bit, as I have not radar currently on my Invader, so no halibut drift.
Got to the island about 10, EPIC weather. Super smooth both ways whe. The fog lifted a bit. 22kn, cruisin. Jan and Feb are the best when it is good. 61 - 62 on the surface, 58 at 90ft. Good clean water, 40 ft.viz. Did one dive, near Hamilton - 5 for me, 3 for my friend. Moved to Ripper's area, on legals, little off blue, 20ish viz. Almost no current.
Got dry and boiling Bonito come up the line. 1 cast of a pre-tied surface iron, fish on. Moved a bit and got a couple more. Only 1 kept for the smoker, decent grade. I'm a size 13 foot, and that is a big free dive fin for reference.
Didn't stick around, had to get back.
Go get em, they are around. Cheers.
