Headed out for a few hours yesterday evening. Found the bait and with it were lots of fish. Ended up with 7 corvina and 1 legal halibut. Hooked what was probably an even bigger Hali that broke me off on 10lb test. Couple bass added in for good measure. All on the luckycraft flash minnow. Great fun on light tackle.

Nice day from shore Kam! Caught lots of Corbina with sandcrabs. Never caught a Corvina. Very similar except skinnier, larger mouth and no goatee?

Forgive me please, however I'm a curious guy. What's up with your lucky thumb?

It looks deformed because if you look closely the pectoral fin and gill plate are in front of it. I didn’t even notice that haha

1024px-California_corbina.jpg Im Not an expert on this, but I think your fish reckie might be a little off. Corvinas's mouth are more on the underside of their snout. Googled a picture to show the difference. Also Corvina are sand crab eaters, not as likely to eat a lucky minnow. Im not 100% positive on this but would check it out before keeping more.
Still awesome fishing. You will want to keep that hole a secret.

Thanks for the reply. That's a corbina in the picture though; they're the sand crab eaters. Still haven't caught one of those haha. If you look up corvina you should get pictures of a bunch of different species of similar predatory fish. Some of them grow huge. Weird that google showed a picture of a bean when you looked up corvina.

I think you have it backwards. Corvina much more likely to eat a jerk bait. Corbina eat the crabs.

That's some good fishing! Was this from the kayak, or shoreline?
