Both overnight trips on big schools of 60 pound bluefin. Customers totally under gunned on equipment thinking calico bass and yellowtail were the target.

    Fun-fun-fun.......

Just listened to Tino's report on 976-tuna. Pretty entertaining. Looks like they have openings Sun night but looking on Windy the forecast doesn't look that great next few days...

I think LA County still has restrictions on the number of passengers on board so all their trips are like a limited load trip.

Yes the cat out of the bag ... We saw that one report about leaving SCI and seeing a school of bft and getting one to bite. I knew they were there and it pretty obvious when PQ is 20 miles of of SCI today and they were there 2 trips ago and had limits about 30 miles away fish have just move closer. I do love the Freedom it my local boat...

Holy crap.....if that ain't the "Bugle Call"......lol. Got to love it though. Think about the "newbies" ..... and their FIRST chance at big fish!! Thats what I'm talking about.... even if they got "waxed". It's a once in a "fishing lifetime" experience.

Yep..... this is the one where.... as an angler you have to decide.... if you really LOVE this stuff.... cause the next step.... purchase wise is a doooooozy.

We've ALL been there. For me.personally.... it was a similar trip....many decades ago... where I got "waxed" ....completely under gunned. Never happened again.... period. That HOOKED me on Big TUNA fishing. Local Day Boats ... getting quality BFT.... I'm stoked and hope some "newbies" will be "converted" as well... lol. Good luck BD Brothers. Thanks for the post!

WON and other sources report the Bluefin already nearing the area off the Channel Islands.
Like Tuna Do...ON the move constantly. LOL

Would be cool if Channel Islands is looking at kelp paddies already. The yellow are here. From the 182 to Clemente. This entire fucking migrating school of all fish has changed within what? A month? Just my last trip my ass was fishing collonet.

Thunderbird with 100+ yellowtail today as well at Clemente my god

Did a trip to Guadalupe on the RP about 15 years ago. Thought I had the “right” gear. Nope. Decided then and there that I wasn’t going to invest in any more trips without being fully dialed in. It’s an investment to be set up for success, but a worthy one, in my opinion.

The bluefin are way out for Military to enforce anything at the island. I just hope people will calm down and I won’t have to throw a jig at someone being to close on a hundred pounder hooked up. That looks like utter mayhem right now my god

    Which one? Too many....
I'm looking at AIS right now. Most of those boats are no closer than 1/2 mile to each other. It just looks cluttered because you are zoomed out so far, the icons are out of proportion (each icon on that little screen is 1/5 of the length of the island).

Of the targets shown, it's about 20 boats spread out over an area about 17 NM e/w x 7 NM n/s

Appreciate it. But even half a mile is going to put down the fish with everyone gunning and running when they pop up. It literally is “I’ll see ya at the launch ramp Jack ass” type of conversations right now on the radio

Edit: Just read the report from Thunderbird. He’s all pissed off from the skiffs running over his chum line on 976, and he’s heading in. Damn I hope it gets better. That has to suck

Will throw a jig at someone and wants others to "calm down" ? Can you even throw a jig ?

It doesn’t make sense to me that you would go to San Clemente targeting yellowtail and not have an outfit that could at least give you a chance to land a 60 pound tuna. those home guards can get pretty mean And if they’re not line shy, you should be throwing 30 or even 40 pound test at them. That’s good enough to land a midsize bluefin
