What is the best jig stick reel out the box with free spill ?
My Fathom 25n is dreamy
Free spool is highly overrated. Your thumb negates any difference in free spool from reel to reel. Spool inertia, IE a lighter spool, actually makes a difference.
Trinis, Tranx, Saltists come to mind.
practice is the best free spool reel.
A friend of mine was a casting savant.
He could take anyone's reel,
stand with his back to the rail
and cast backwards over his head
and almost always cast further than the reel owner.
What is your budget?
Get some TSI 321
Freespool isn't nearly as important as spool weight.I have old Penn reels with brass spools that have excellent freespool but don't cast worth a shit. Also the fact that you can have a reel freespool for two minutes, how many of us can keep a sardine or jig in the air for that long ?
Ken with Kens custom reels says Daiwa Sealine makes excellent casting reels straight out of the box.
That was a few years back now.
I like my tranx but still have my Penn 555 on one of my 8 ft jig sticks
fathom star drag out the box hands down
you might want to wait check these out
im thinking of getting the new penn fathom 2 15 star drag
Saltist are great reels for a great price
Don't blame the tool.
Think trebuchet, not catapult.
I haven't laughed so hard in months.
The new Fathom II's cast exceptionally well, and the new models allow a choice of 4.8-1 gear ratio or 6-1 gear ratio, which is a choice that the members of this site have particularly been asking for.
This series has both amazing freespool due to the "Live Spindle" design, and they also have very light spools.
Depending on the rod you want to match, and the line tests you prefer, either the 25N size or 30 size.
The 15 size is at its best when used as a live bait reel for 12-30 pound topshots.
Ya Kenny said that fathom is the shops favorite now!! Bomb proof!
a newell, lol
I still use mine!
