Davies Launch Ramp at 4AM
Dense fog all the way to Catalina West End.
Saw lots of bait at the surface near 125.
Headed to back side of Cat and started trolling Madmacs at 8 to 12MPH to 499. Weather was too snotty to maintain a constant speed.
No surface action until we were about 3 miles north east of 499 High Spot. This was about 11:30AM
Foaming BFT ranging from 50 to 200 pounds in the mix.
Trolled outside of the many foaming tunas
They were not boat shy as we drifted into the foamers. Fish stayed up for about 5 mins and resurfaced elsewhere. This went on for a short time.
Headed toward the Snail and as we got closer, no life. Didn't meter any bait or tunas.
Most of the area we covered had lot of scattered bait, no so much bait balls. Also scattered tuna marks at 50 to 150 feet but not in mass quantity.
Weather was rough and got windy on the outside but we managed to safely get there and back to the dock.
Not our day for the win but looking forward to the next tuna hunt.
