Will do. I have some intense Yellowtail runs at the Islands. So i have to get this done. I also just like the scenery. Plus even the kelp paddies just outside of the islands have been loaded with Dorado and Yellows years ago.

Just read the WHOLE thread. Holy crap its a lot of info.

Midway through it was reported that the 180 day visa deal by walking across the border was done and could only be purchased online. It apears to be back. Anyone confirm 100%.

Id like to think a license, passport and 180 day visa will do. I hope the fcc and boat reg isnt needed.

There is no such thing as a multiple use 180 day Visa. The Visa you buy online is good for one entry in and out of Mexico for up to 180 days. So you can go into Mexico and stay for up to 180 days, but if you go in today and come out tomorrow you need to get another one before you go back.

All FMM's whether land, air or sea are one entry. The FMM owner is trusted to return the FMM upon returning to Country or port originated. This is why cruise ships and airplanes keep the FMM. The online FMM is worthless, the receipt is the key. Buy it and use it for 180days or when it is first recorded by an inspector. Once they put the number into the books, using it more than once is a nono.

Think of it this way. At $25 a pop, it costs too much to enforce it against private boaters. Hence since this debacle began, with the bogus company in Point Loma, not once has anyone been sited, towed, arrested nor attacked by the chupacabra.

So buy one, put 180 days on it. done deal. when they ask for it, show it, then buy another.

I do the same thing, use it until they check or I am circled. BUT

What do you do if theres an extra person going along or you paid for three and now theres only two?
I guess it would be no big deal because you either print another for the extra person or use the one for three people for two, I doubt they would question wheres the person.

Last September I walked across the border again to get my FMM. Once across the border, the look has changed. There's a big booth as you walk past to get your VISA. I got my 180 day visa and the guy behind the counter said it was multi-use and was good for any number of fishing visits within 180 days. My Visa turned out being about $21. My buddy, who speaks fluent Spanish, was able to get a 5 day visa for free. There was no communication gap. My buddy yapped at this guy long enough to ask the questions and told him where we planned to fish which was the Coronado Islands.

The 7 day FMM free has been readily issue for about 6 months now. The fact that they sold you an FMM that you said you were going to fish the Nados means nothing. You could have told him you were going to Mars, they will sell it - sometimes. The 180 was just changed for multiple entry, That does not include, from what I have read, air and sea travel. Just land travel as it generates the most revenue.

The chances are that you will be allowed to stay at the islands with a warning and that is not the right visa. They do log the info. I predict enforcement will begin again once the winter YT show up and the 3/4 day boats are around the island.

I've been checked twice while using a Visa acquired by walking across the border. Never a problem.

Anybody get the FMM in the last week? My friend said there was a price hike to around $70 which sounds like a permit fee and not the FMM for 2016. Wanting to get back out there since weather might cooperate.
