Next week, I'll be trying for the first time the Cross Border Express bridge into the TJ airport and flying on Volaris to La Paz. Do any of you know if I can put my reels in my carry-on bags and bring onto the airplane? Or do I need to put them in my check-in bag?

Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

I’ve heard in Mexico domestic they are likely to get after you if your reels in your carryon have line on them. No first hand experience, but I’ve heard that from others. Also had a buddy fly Houston to Mexico City to Ixtapa bringing down some small jigs, and although he got his jigs thru security carryon in US, in Mexico they made him check them.

If I had to fly Volaris (which Hopefully I’ll never have to) I would just pay and check in my luggage, eliminates a lot of headaches.

It’s happened to me. I Only made the mistake once. Now everyone I wrapp them up and put them in the check in luggage.
