Got back out to the harbor today for the first time in a while for a kayak Halibut tourney. Only fished half the tourney cause my luck was already stretched to it's limit. Exhibited some of my worst gaff work ever.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiDPbnmDI80[/ame]

First fish went 16.07, and the second was 23 even for first place and the mulah. I would rather be lucky when I am not good.

No, unfortuately, I let my gaff go quite a bit too long since its last tuneup. Looks about like 60 grit sand paper with all the rust. Maybe just time for a new gaff.

"I am gonna get em good" .......eventually.

Baytubers Halibut Tournament, open to anything that floats and is self propelled. Although have not seen anything but kayaks entered in last few years. Winner buys the main course for the next one and decides on the location. So I am thinking Prime Rib for anyone that can successfully launch at the Wedge?

By all appearances you stayed calm, cool and collected. I probably would have spazzed out and rolled the kayak over!:rofl:Good job and congrats on the win.

I've had my fair share of Halibut bounce off the gaff. it usually ends up in a lost fish, good job keeping em on the line.

Is that Pier J your fishing infront of?

Nice job Greg. Hope I have as much luck out tomorrow in SD bay. Were you using bait or lures?
