Nobody off south SCI this morning.
Have the tuna moved inshore or is SCI closed?
I'm wondering the same thing. I heard it is closed until Sunday and I don't see any boats over there, but not sure. Looks like everyone is at the 43.
Can anyone confirm closure?
Partial Closure. Here's the link for the closure schedule for San Clemente Island: http://www.scisland.org/schedules/safetyZoneUse/days/9.html
Looks like southern side of island is shut down for a week.
schedule shows closed, 0700-2359, surface to 40K feet.....
could be good......give them a break...........
could be bad.....they might leave.
They all are chasing YF on 181 now numbers vs Trophy's
I was surprised at how dirty the water was, they are definitely keyed in on the bait that is there.
hopefully they will discover the other bait availability closer to home...
I would bet that a number of boats find another batch of fish this weekend out at Cortez/Tanner or that Airplane, Dumper, Butterfly, or Condom...
theres fish at the 60 still as well. It will be good to get some of the pressure off for a few days. Plus I just got back from an epic trip and Im not going until next week!
A lot of fish caught in dirty water this year... The bait loves the dirty water but catchin tuna in it this year has definitely been a rarity in our fishery...
After watchin those outer banks guys catchin schoolie yft in 46 degree water while its snowing and the gulf guys catchin yft in puke green conditions I guess it all can happen...
looks like sci not open sunday either in that area? correct me if i'm wrong.
According to the schedule, you are correct.....
I've been wanting to get on a boat on an overnight out to the cortez or tanner for awhile now. Imo, i think there are some monsters around, and last time they were here (fish up to 1000+ pounds) it seems they stayed in a bit colder water. i.e by the channel islands. The water isn't as warm at these banks and I'd be really curious to spend a couple days out there looking. Could really pay off.
As long as you are out of the safety zone area you can fish the area. We fished SCI today. It was slow. Got spooled on 40 pound at 9 o'clock this morning and that was it for us.
Perfect. I got home this afternoon.

What's up at SCI.. I am watching Live Ship this morning showing 10-12 boats out on the reef.. but the schedule calls for the area to be closed from "0600 today- 0200 tomorrow" ??...
