I was at the longfin today and picked up a few shimano flat falls, their selection/inventory was good. Picked up a colt sniper too, thought I'd give it a try

The pink and silver killed it for us last season. Just drop them until they stop taking line. Wind tight, kill bluefin, eat sashimi. Pretty awesome.

How are they for YFT? Or are they mostly a BFT jig?

What colors and weights do you guys recommend?
I like the Chartreuse in 80 or 130. But the others have worked regardless of color. I think the action is what really got the bite.

I was skeptical until I fished one down in PV this winter. I was dumbfounded that we would hook fish at night literally EVERY cast. Like the others have said, most bites should come on the sink so just be ready to throw it in gear and set the hook, otherwise I would grind/jerk the lure back and hook-up that way. I was sold and am going to be getting a couple in a variety of colors in the 100 and 130 size.

I fished a Colt Sniper for yellows on the RP and it worked great. Just like yo-yoing a 6x Jr, but easier to wind because it's more streamlined.

Tried them on my last 2 trips at Cortes Bank. Caught only rockfish with them. Can't wait for March 1st. :)

I'd definitely get the chartreuse first as my go to, then the pink, and chovie.

The chartreuse glows and looks like a live squid. Everything eats it.

So you think sardine and sandeel...not so much?
Haven't had as much luck with the sand eel or purple yet. The others got destroyed. I've tried every color.

Ok. Thanks for all that good info.

I'll grab those colors in 80 & 130.

I know it's hard to tell and don't want to get some of these jigs that don't do much and collect dust in the box like certain irons that don't get bit.

The only one I've tried is the purple/gold 'Phantom Squid', with no luck. I need to try another color, because I've watched guys kill pretty much everything with these, just not in that color.

It looks like I should start out with

Chovy
White
Pink

Is what most guys are telling me???

I'm thinking about buying 1 in ea. color and just see what happens in 100g.
