Nobody was disappointed – even a tiny bit – as fishing was at its very best whether inshore, offshore or from the beach.

Air temps ranged from the low 80s to low 90s. A small storm we experienced was very good for the fish. After the storm, the water cooled off a few degrees, dropping from 85 to 82, and everything reactedpositively. Dorado came up to the surface and we finally started to catch them in good numbers.

We also spotted a few blue marlin in the area. Striped marlin were on the hot bite again for all our guests’ delight Meanwhile, roosterfish continued to perform as expected. The pez gallo ranged from chico 4-pounders all the way to 55 or 60 pound fish. Tuna also stayed hot, with boats reaching their tuna limits before noon, which gave them time to go after different species; bottom fishing was outstanding again with cabrilla, snapper and pompano.

Bait hasn’t been an issue, with plenty of sardines, caballito, camiseta, ladyfish and ballyhoo available daily. Bait fishing has been fantastic, but also with Rapalas, jigs, various lures, feathers and cedar plugs.

Lyndell and Larry Deathrage, with their sons Binks, Brody and Kenny from El Dorado Hills and San Diego, enjoyed three days of outstanding fishing aboard the Flecha Recta with Capt. Lizandro Cota and Danny Sandez as his deckhand. They caught limits of tuna and pompano while releasing marlin and roosterfish; you name it, it was awesome. Thank you, amigos, we will see you next year.
