We were out Saturday. Went out from Huntington up towards the west end of Cat. figured there would be some fish up that way. Found a nice mako about 15 miles out. Whales, dolphin and big sunfish, you can call them what you wish. Hit three paddys. Nothing. Fourth one first cast was a large dodo. He was on a light rig, Calstar 30 to 80 and a torium 20 cracked down with 40 lb and could move the fish. Thankfully our friends on the Gail Force decided we came in and ran over the fish. Didn't cut him off, but spooked him into a long run where he came unbuttoned. Gail Force killed the paddy and our fish. Just wanted to thank them.

Captain Ryan responded with an apology. Not crying. It happens, but you don't need help to kill a paddy.

Pretend the fish was landed. Any way you slice it, charging in @ full steam ahead and parking on top of an occupied paddy isn't cool. It's a big ocean, they have a full crew with killer binos...easy for them to find their own fish.

Now that's a sporty I want to be on.

Wonder if the passengers paid extra for the entertainment? Turned that paddy into orange confetti.

    Everyone likes a winner!

It took me until today to say something. I don't bitch. Just say facts. Next time you find a paddy and get it blown out, don't cry either. This is a community of people that love what we do. We fish. When people whoever they are snake you, it's like the surfing community. You take care of your own. When somebody snakes you, you let everyone know who does it. That is it.. I am out.

I'm not sure how long you've been doing the offshore scene, but trust me, sportboats are the least of your worries when it comes to paddy hopping. And I've never seen a sportboat charge in on anything.....in case you haven't noticed, they're kind of slow. You lost a hooked fish...that's on you my friend. Don't worry you'll get em next time!!! :D
