I will be headed out to Catalina on wed night and staying until Sunday. We will be taking the Catalina express over. I definitely am taking my gear and plan on doing some fishing. I am going over with my fiancé and her parents and they would also like to fish. However I can't expect them to help pony up for a 4 hour charter at $600. What do you guys suggest, we will be staying at their families vacation home. I know we can fish from the pier but was looking for a little more help as it would be nice to maybe get into some wsb or yellowtail. We can rent a 20hp boat from joes rent a boat however then we have the issue of live bait. Open to any and all suggestions.

Steve, do the Joes Rent a boat. Take a sabiki rig, go out and jig up a a few macs, and slow troll them along the kelp lines and down off the east end, just past the rock quarry. Yellows will hit them. If all else fails, brings some frozen squid, and drop squid strips along the kelp for calico's and other fish like sheepshead.

Bring a few jigs and irons for Bonita and Barracuda. Slow troll some rapalas for yellows and bones. Troll a few bonita feathers. Blue and white and red and white.

Catch a few macs, and fly line them along the kelp or other beach areas that look WSB'y, or send them to the bottom for WSB.

WSB can be found if the conditions are right just off pebbly beach, and the small cove between the quarry and pebbly beach, as well as seal rock. I call it trash landing, because the locals toss their TV's, microwaves and computer monitors over the cliff, down onto the beach. %$#@ a-holes. Thats also a great spot for Leo's
