Just making sure I enter in coordinates correctly. Sometimes when I add the coordinates, it seems way off and I'm not sure if it's correct. I have a Lowrance HDS unit. Fishdope gives coordinates as follow:

33 00 x 118 04 (Is this Degree/ mInutes?)

31.02 x 117.00 (Just Degree?)

32 25.810 x 117 15.950 (Degree /Minute /Second)?

Anyone have a lowrance unit and know what unit settings you use? Did I miss any other form of units given on Fishdope? Thanks everyone for your input.

you need to be using the same coordinate format.

on the fish dope chart page you can choose the format you want . its right below where it says "pointer position". use this to match your plotter, or get in the plotter setup menu and change it.

degrees. minutes. decimal seconds seems to be pretty popular.

Val, the Aha moment for me came when I realized that my Lowrance GPS coordinates allowed me to input all the digits from 0 to 9. That means my setting was meant for Degrees/Minutes/Decimal Minutes because there can only be 60 seconds per minute.

This is also a good read.
