What about a baseball bat to the skull? My issue is that the fish’s brain is small and in different places on different places so it’s hard to hit reliably.

He tells you how to tell when you hit the brain by squirreling the brain..if that doesn't work for you, cave in its skull..lol

I am going back to Brain Spiking, did a ton of it when I used to Spearfish, also tired of crew ruining cheeks on Halibut and Lings. I know this method works and am building custom Ikejime spike as we speak. Photos to come.

There's Just something cool about the "ping" of using the kids old Easton t-ball bat... Maybe I'm sentimental.

Anybody try the brain stick on halibut? I can definitely see the advantage if it works out, they can really take a punch with the bat,

I know a guy that pokes the brain of big halibut with a .357 and that seems to work for him.
Don’t know anyone that uses a little metal pokey thing though.

Easy on me brutha😉 i just passed along...
Just saying that maybe they should have compared that method to the bonk, cut gills, bleed in bucket (properly bleed). when I cut my white meat, blood is gone. maybe there is more trauma in this method and maybe that matters.

bonk, cut, bleed, ice is our method for all fish.

I don’t doubt this method works well at all but just the thought of trying to thread a thin wire up the spinal column of a fish in typical ocean conditions makes me sick. The club to the head, cut gills, and on ice method seems to work just fine too.

Sharpened stubby flathead, been using them for years, good grip, cheap, doesn’t go through the fish and mess up the deck or hurt someone
