Even if you aren't a parent you can understand the pleasure in watching someone you care about jumping and screaming with joy as they pull in the final fish that gives them the trifecta. Headed to the 277 with crappy bait from dana today after visiting the zoo (bait tank.) Mostly anchovies getting hammered by the few macs and dines I had in there. Ended up off the domes patty hopping. Hooked some rat yellows, followed by a good 10 pounder. Then there she was, scoping out our sad sluggish baits...the dodo. My son grabs the last good dine...throws it out and bam. Dodo on...jumping and all. We gaff and laugh, and snap the photos quick before the soul disappears. We fish on and he ends up landing two YFT on a weighted line with limp chovies. All in all we landed several yellowtail, two yellowfin and one dodo just about six miles off the domes!!!!!!

Well Gents...I can see that you feel me here. Just finished cleaning and portioning into well done pieces (the chain meat), cooking pieces (tails ends and not so prime pieces) and the sashimi/poke/tar tar portions. On the menu tonight= YFT belly poke with yuzu, sesame oil and crispy wontons, followed by oven roasted whole rat yellowtails with olive oil, sea salt and fresh squeezed lemons. Ice cold Sculpin IPA will round that out for daddy.

:appl: I can relate. I still remember my sons "first" of every catch like it was yesterday. Congrats on a great trip with your boy. This is the ideal season for getting kids on fish. Nice job dad.
