I've been fishing freshwater and saltwater for alot of years. I've had a freshwater boat for years and finally decided to take the leap and buy an ocean boat. I didn't want to spend alot of dough, so I picked up a boat that needed some work. Well, Alot of work. But she's finally fish and dive ready. I've added a couple before pics to give you an idea of what I started with.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
A buddy of mine has the exact same boat and we have done many outer banks trips in some questionable weather. The boat was very seaworthy and it convinced me that a Skipjack was definitely my boat of choice.

I haven't named her yet but I'm hoping to have one soon. I was leaning toward Cantankerous but the buddies have vetoed that one. So I'm back to square one in the naming department.

I think the piano hinged ice box was factory issue from skipjack. It seems to match perfectly. It has a nice plugged drain at the bottom and is excellent for keeping the deck clear of an ice chest. I picked the boat up for 8 and have dumped about another 2 into her so far. Everything on the motor is brand new. Including an MSD distributor (marine), MSD Coil, MSD plug wires, Edelbrock carb. (Marine), Edelbrock intake manifold (polished), Holly fuel pump (Marine), all new fuel lines (USCGA), starter (Marine), alternator (marine), water pump (marine), new valve covers, all new outdrive hoses, new impellor, and a ton of things I can't even think of.
I did all the work myself, so I'm feeling pretty good about the entire thing.

I've read alot of posts from Saltydog and Curtis on Hanna, along with alot of other Skipjack owners. I look forward to hooking up along side you guys soon.

I also got a 24' skippy recently. How is your trck pulling it? I put a ez lift hitch on the trailer and it was like night and day. When I pull my boat now, I hardlly feel the differsnce with the extra weight. I'm using a F-150 though. Nice boat.

    Jeeplo,

Nice Skippy. A good friend of mine has one, rides like a Caddy...

One suggestion though, he put on a hand rail across the stern and on the side about 6" tall. Something to hang on to back there when it's snotty.

Leo, I'd like to see that piano hinge top on your cooler, Mine has the cooler but the top is 1 piece and a pain in the ass, But mine will keep ice for 3-4 days. It seems like I might lose some insulation value by hinging it

    Holey,
I've been pulling my skippy with a 1500 Dodge Ram with the small 4.7 litre v8. I keep telling my wife that I need to upgrade trucks, but the truth is, the Dodge has been doing the job well. I've had the boat down to San Diego, Oceanside, Dana, and Long beach. The truck does 65 pulling that thing. I have to say that the truck has impressed me.

    Bill,
I'll take some more pics of the hinged lid for you. It has been able to keep ice for at least 2 days for sure. That's the longest I've been out on her so far. I think it would cap out at about 3 days max. Unless I'm using blocks of ice. Then I might get more storage time out of it. Hopefully we can meet up at the dock during the season so I can get a good look at the 1.7 you have in your sled. When I'm able to dump some serious money, I'll be looking to do that swap. Although she's running pretty darn good now. LOL

    Parker,
I thought about the rail thing, but it would create a new obstacle for getting in and out of the boat when I'm diving. They would be great if I could figure out how to make them easily removeable.
